VALD Assessments

Objective strength testing with ForceDecks and DynaMo — data behind every decision.

VALD ASSESSMENTS

VALD assessment — numbers behind your rehabilitation.

We use VALD ForceDecks and DynaMo — the same objective strength-measurement technology trusted by elite sports teams and academic researchers — to put data behind every clinical decision. How strong you actually are, where the asymmetries sit, whether rehab is working.

BOOK THE RIGHT APPOINTMENT

30-minute standard or 45-minute extended.

All consultations are 30 minutes by default, enough for a focused VALD test on a single joint or muscle group inside a normal physio session. If you want the full VALD battery (bilateral force plate testing + jump/landing + relevant DynaMo work), book an extended 45-minute consultation. Tell reception “full VALD assessment” at booking.

HOW IT WORKS

Retest every 4 weeks through training blocks.

Strength changes show on VALD before they show in how you feel. We recommend retesting every 4 weeks through a training block — baseline, 4-week retest, 8-week retest, 12-week final test. For longer programs (post-ACL, post-major-surgery, ongoing performance) the 4-week cadence continues for as long as the block runs.

COMMON QUESTIONS

VALD patients and athletes ask us …

What’s the difference between ForceDecks and DynaMo?+

ForceDecks are dual force plates measuring lower-limb force, asymmetry and movement mechanics through jumping, landing and squatting. DynaMo is a hand-held wireless dynamometer for joint-specific isolated muscle testing — rotator cuff, hip rotators, scapular stabilisers.

How long is a VALD consultation?+

Standard physiotherapy consultations are 30 minutes — enough for an isolated test inside a normal session. For the full VALD battery, book an extended 45-minute consultation.

How often should I retest?+

Every 4 weeks through a training block. Strength changes appear on VALD before they appear in how you feel. Most rehab episodes involve baseline, 4-week, 8-week and 12-week retests.

Will I get a written report?+

Yes — a one-page summary of your numbers, comparison to norms and your unaffected side, our interpretation, and the recommended plan. The same report goes to your referring GP if you have one.

Can I claim VALD assessment on private health?+

Yes — VALD assessment is delivered inside a standard physiotherapy consultation. It’s claimable under the physiotherapy item code on your extras cover.
