Pelvic Health
Women’s and men’s pelvic health, led by clinicians who do this every day.
PELVIC HEALTH PHYSIO
Pelvic health for everyone — women, men, athletes, parents.
Our pelvic-health stream is led by Karly Flynn (women’s pelvic health, athletic mum, BJJ, bowel health) and Joshua Hopton (men’s pelvic health, post-prostatectomy continence, pudendal neuralgia). Internal assessment, real-time ultrasound, evidence-based programming.
WHAT WE TREAT
Conditions we treat across the pelvic spectrum.
Birth preparation, post-partum recovery, return-to-running for the athletic mum.
Cystocele, rectocele, uterine prolapse. Stress, urge and mixed incontinence.
Continence rehabilitation after radical prostatectomy.
Pudendal nerve entrapment, chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS).
Faecal urgency, conservative colorectal physiotherapy, defecation dynamics.
Dyspareunia, vaginismus, vestibulodynia, chronic non-bacterial prostatitis.
EVERY PATHWAY ACCEPTED
NDIS, DVA, Medicare CDM, WorkCover, private health.
Pelvic health is on plan for NDIS when included in capacity-building goals. DVA-funded with current GP referral. Medicare CDM where chronic pelvic conditions qualify. Private health extras under physiotherapy. We’ll explain your specific cover at booking.
HOW IT WORKS
Internal assessment, real-time ultrasound, programmed strength.
Initial sessions involve detailed history, external screening and (with informed consent) internal pelvic-floor assessment. We use real-time ultrasound for biofeedback. Treatment combines manual therapy, motor-pattern retraining, behavioural strategies, and graded strength work that respects your life stage, sport and goals.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Pelvic-health patients ask us …
Do you treat men’s pelvic health?+
Yes — Joshua Hopton leads our men’s pelvic health stream, including post-prostatectomy continence, pudendal neuralgia, chronic pelvic pain (CPPS) and conservative colorectal physio.
Is internal assessment required?+
No — never required. With informed consent, internal pelvic-floor assessment gives the most accurate picture, but external screening and real-time ultrasound are valid alternatives.
How soon after birth can I see a pelvic-health physio?+
A 6-week post-natal screen is the standard recommendation. Earlier sessions are appropriate for symptoms (pain, heaviness, leakage) at any stage post-partum.
Can I claim pelvic health on NDIS or DVA?+
Yes — NDIS when included in capacity-building plan goals; DVA Gold/White Card with current GP referral.
Do you do real-time ultrasound?+
Yes — on-site real-time ultrasound for pelvic floor and abdominal wall biofeedback as part of assessment and treatment.
