Most of my training and elite-pathway experience is in endurance sport — rowing, running and triathlon — where the line between productive training and injury is razor thin.

On the athletic side I treat bony stress injuries, stress fractures, running biomechanics, load management and return-to-performance for endurance athletes. On the vestibular side I treat BPPV (using Dix-Hallpike and Epley manoeuvres), vestibular hypofunction, post-concussion dizziness, and balance rehab. I also see TMJ dysfunction and post-surgical rehab.

    WHAT I TREAT

    What I treat

    Bony stress injuries
Diagnosis, offload, progressive bone reloading and return-to-running for tibial, femoral, navicular and metatarsal stress reactions.
    Endurance athletes
Rowers, runners, triathletes — periodised training, load management and performance physio.
    BPPV (vertigo)
Positional vertigo diagnosed with Dix-Hallpike and resolved with Epley/Semont manoeuvres. Most cases clear in 3 sessions.
    Vestibular rehab
Vestibular hypofunction, post-concussion dizziness, motion sensitivity and balance retraining.
    TMJ dysfunction
Jaw pain, clicking, restricted opening — conservative manual therapy and home program.
    Post-surgical rehab
Knee, hip, shoulder and ankle post-op rehab with progressive return-to-sport pathways.

    MY APPROACH

Diagnose first, then offload, then rebuild

Endurance injuries don’t respond to generic strengthening — they need accurate diagnosis, a specific offload window, then a progressive reload pathway that matches the demands of the sport. For BPPV the priority is getting the right canal diagnosed and resolved fast. Either way, you leave with a clear plan.

    COMMON QUESTIONS

    Frequently asked of Ben

    How quickly can BPPV resolve?
Most BPPV cases resolve in 3 sessions of canalith repositioning manoeuvres. If symptoms persist beyond that, we screen for central causes and refer appropriately.
Do I need imaging before my appointment?
Not usually. We can assess, treat and refer for imaging only if clinically indicated. Bring any existing scans with you.
    Can you treat post-concussion dizziness?
Yes — vestibular rehab is well-evidenced for post-concussion vertigo, motion sensitivity and exertion intolerance.
Do you work with junior endurance athletes?
Yes — I work with junior rowers and runners (with parental consent). Adolescent athletes have specific risk profiles around bone health that need careful management.
