Women’s pelvic health, pre/post-natal recovery and the athletic mum

Pelvic health physiotherapist for women — pre-natal, post-natal, return to running, return to lifting, and pelvic floor concerns at every stage. I treat athletes, mums and women navigating bowel and bladder symptoms.

Pregnancy, birth and the early years of motherhood put extraordinary demand on the pelvic floor and the rest of the body. My job is to make sure you can keep doing what you love — lifting, running, training, parenting — without leaks, prolapse symptoms or pain getting in the way.

I treat pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and bowel symptoms, diastasis recti recovery, return to running after birth, and graded strength programming for the athletic mum. I also see female competitive athletes (including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and strength sports) for performance physio that respects what the pelvic floor needs.

    WHAT I TREAT

    What I treat

    Pre-natal physiotherapy
Pelvic girdle pain, pelvic floor preparation for birth, and exercise modification through pregnancy.
    Post-natal recovery
Early and 12-week post-birth check-ins, pelvic floor reassessment, and structured return-to-exercise progressions.
    Return to running
Staged return-to-run protocols after birth or pelvic floor surgery — not the 6-week green light.
    Pelvic organ prolapse
Conservative management with pelvic floor strengthening, load management and pessary support guidance.
    Urinary & bowel symptoms
Stress and urge incontinence, bladder urgency, constipation and bowel coordination.
    Female athletes
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, strength sports and competitive athletes — performance physio that includes the pelvic floor.

    MY APPROACH

    Real assessments, real exercise plans

I run a proper internal and external pelvic floor assessment when it’s indicated — too many women are told ‘just do your Kegels’ without anyone actually checking how their floor is working. Sessions are private and unhurried. You’ll leave with an exercise plan that fits the gym, the lounge floor or the school run.

    COMMON QUESTIONS

    Frequently asked of Karly

How soon after birth can I see you?
An early post-natal check is ideal regardless of how you feel. Symptoms like leaking, heaviness or pain are not normal even if they are common, and earlier intervention is almost always easier.
Do I need a doctor referral?
No. You can book directly. If you have an existing pelvic health diagnosis, bring any reports along.
    Will the assessment be internal?
An internal vaginal assessment is the gold standard for pelvic floor function, but it’s never compulsory. We discuss what’s appropriate at the first appointment and you can always say no.
Can I claim through private health fund?
Yes — HICAPS on the spot for most major Australian funds. You only pay the gap.
